Legal Intern

JUSTICE invites applications for our 2020 winter internship, which is a paid position.

The successful applicant will work closely with our legal staff: conducting legal research; providing commentary on draft legislation; assisting with third party interventions; and supporting working parties of our membership exploring critical issues of law reform. The internship will provide the opportunity to develop research and drafting skills, to engage with litigation and law-making processes, and to be part of a small, friendly and committed staff.

Given the nature of our work, applications are sought from UK law graduates only. This includes people who expect to have completed a law degree or GDL or are a CILEX graduate by the time they start the internship. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in the challenges affecting the justice system – whether criminal, civil or administrative – and have an understanding of the UK’s constitutional and human rights framework. They should have excellent written and spoken communication skills.

The Job Description is available here.

The internship is a full-time role and takes place for three months, from January/February 2021 – the exact start date will be discussed with the candidate. Given the current public health situation, it will be a work from home role with regular video calls with the legal team and wider JUSTICE staff. Interns are paid the London Living Wage £19,747 per annum, pro rata.

To be considered for this internship please complete the application form and equality and diversity monitoring form and email it to jobs@justice.org.uk.

Please note we will only accept applications from JUSTICE members. If you are not already a member, you can join here. Please include your membership number in your application form, if you are not sure of your membership number you can find it on your members profile on our members area or you can email membership@justice.org.uk to obtain it.
